As one of the fundamental standing poses , Utthita Trikonasana appears in many asana sequences.
It’s name basically describes its shape- a triangle. Actually there are three Triangles in this pose. Can find them in the photograph ?
Notice the position of the feet and the even extension of the chest ! Bringing the hand to the floor as shown is something most practitioners can’t do without disturbing the alignment of Utthita Trikonasana. Therefore we use blocks for the hands.
Triangle pose , when done properly , creates firmness in the legs and space in the chest allowing consciousness to expand.
